The FSA is in the process of making some fundamental industry changes to help customers feel confident about investing and borrowing money again. The RBS group has been at the forefront of setting these new industry guidelines, working closely with the FSA to develop the Retail Distribution Review (RDR).

Candidate Brochure

As an RBS Group Financial Planning Manager, you’ll need:

  • FPC 1, 2 and 3 or CF1 – 5 or Full CEFA – ideally with CF2 (if FPC 1-3 held)
  • The drive to undertake further study to develop your career
  • Competent Adviser Status for a minimum of six months within the last 24 months
  • Experience in selling investments, protection and pensions products
  • Less than two upheld complaints
  • Bancassurance experience within the last five years
  • Evidence of achieving current targets
  • Comparable activity levels (leads from colleagues and self generated)
  • Team working and relationship management skills
  • Clean bill of financial health
  • No criminal record
  • Current driving licence with no more than six points

Area specific roles and requirements:

NatWest & RBS Personal

The role:

  • Predominantly branch based daytime appointments, including Saturdays
  • Mostly selling savings, investments, protection and pension products

Key skills needed:

  • You’ll need the ability to adapt to varying audiences and operate across all levels, with potentially high activity levels
  • Coaching skills are required
  • You must be resilient and driven with excellent time management skills

UK – Business & Commercial

The role:

  • Visiting and working with Business & Commercial Managers, mainly at daytime appointments and occasional Saturdays or evenings
  • You’ll be recommending products from a higher authorisation level

Key skills needed:

  • You’ll need the ability to operate in a corporate environment and sell in the pensions market
  • You should ideally hold additional qualifications – for example G10 / G60
  • You’ll need strong relationship building skills, self motivation and professional Pride

NatWest & RBS Private

The role:

  • Working with Private Relationship Managers, appointments taking place at relationship units and customer homes
  • Daytime and evening appointments as required

Key skills needed:

  • Experience of working within the High Net Worth environment
  • You’ll ideally hold part or full JO exams
  • You’ll need excellent relationship building skills and the ability to sell across all RBS Group products
